Location

Chile

CHILE

Chile is a magical country that remains unnoticed by many. Being the longest country at 4,00 km, Chile has a lot to offer: from the world's driest desert and the clearest skies of the Atacama, numerous wine cellars in the central part, to the magnificent landscapes of Patagonia.

But as not many know, Chile is not only landscapes. It is full of different cultures and deep knowledge from its inhabitants. Originally, Chile was populated with more than 9 etnias of indigenous people. As Mapuches say, their biggest richness and legacy are not huge pyramids or constructions, but the Words. Words that come from Mother Nature who expresses itself through the people

Each of them has managed to preserve their traditions up until today and they are always very happy to share their time and experience with visitors. Here in Travolution, we work every day to help travelers meet the indigenous and rural communities and transform traveling into something meaningful and sustainable.

Chilean modern history goes back to the 16th century when Spanish conquistadors arrived to discover new territories in their American rade. Arriving in Chile, the Spanish tried to colonize the country but weren’t able to cross the Biobio river, where the Mapuches stood unwavering.

Nevertheless, after the independence of Chile, Mapuches have been relegated to smaller areas, and the conquerors have spread through all the country.

DIVERSITY OF CLIMATES AND LANDSCAPES

If you consider the distinct climates through Chile, different flora and fauna and the mix of cultures and ethnicities, you will understand how diverse this magical country is in every term you may imagine.

If you go to the north...
...prepare to very hot days and quite cold nights. It almost never rains in the north of Chile and, of course, it’s reflected in the panorama from Arica to La Serena. The most famous place around here is the Atacama desert, but we insist that you have a closer look and add a couple of other stops in your journey around Chile. Some of them are Putre, Chañaral de Aceituno, La Serena, Valle del Elqui and more..

If you decide to stay in the centre...
...Unless you travel by land, your first city in Chile will most probably be the capital, Santiago. And it’s fantastic. The city of contrasts has a lot to offer, from colonial and modern architecture, bohemian neighborhoods, hikes in the mountain, wineries, and much more. You can even meet some indigenous communities who live right in the city and welcome travellers to their homes. Isn’t it the best way to break some stereotypes and finally learn what indigenous people really mean!?

If you go to the south...
... What comes to mind when you hear the word Patagonia? Mountain ranges? Cleanest rivers and lakes? Glaciers? Numerous national parks? Yes! All of those are something you can expect in Patagonia, whether it is in Chile or in Argentina (we share this paradise on Earth). The climate in the south is way more cool and wet than in the central part, so prepare to have a jacket and raincoat always with you, even in the summer (from December to February). However, it’s the climate who we have to thank for the wonderful landscapes that attract so many visitors. As soon as you get there, you’ll understand what we are talking about. Its ancestral inhabitants will be waiting for you.

Why choose only one part and not visiting them all? In Travolution we prepare tailor-made trips, and yours can include the north, the centre and the south, and all of them can be sustainably visited in just 21 days! You are welcome to contact us if you need some help organizing your trip to our such naturally and culturally diverse country!

Come and experience it for yourself in this unique adventure!
